Etihad Airways Sales Communications – Regional Flight Disruption Update

Travel Update Midle east – March 6 – 10h

Etihad Airways will resume a limited commercial flight schedule from 6 March 2026, operating between Abu Dhabi and a number of key destinations*. 

Guests with previous bookings will be accommodated on these flights as soon as possible. Tickets are also available for sale on etihad.com.  

Passengers and members of the public should not travel to the airport unless they have been contacted directly by Etihad or hold a confirmed booking on one of these new flights. 

The decision has been taken in coordination with relevant authorities following extensive safety and security assessments. Etihad continues to monitor the situation closely and will only operate flights once all safety criteria are met.

The following destinations are scheduled to operate to and from Abu Dhabi between 6 March and 19 March:

Changes will be made to existing bookings to accommodate guests on these newly introduced flights. Travel partners are requested to service all affected bookings within 24 hours and to proactively inform customers of any updates to their itineraries. 

The situation remains dynamic, and schedules may change at short notice. We encourage you to ensure that guests’ contact details are accurately entered in their PNRs, in line with IATA Resolution 830d, for a timely communication of operational changes. 

The expected changes will result in a high volume of transactions through our GDS channels. To maintain close oversight of each case, the Automated Refund function has been temporarily suspended across all GDS. Refunds are still available for eligible tickets. Requests can simply be submitted via “Refunds Applications” through the BSP link, please note that delays will occur.

Dear Trade Partners

The following options will be provided to RJ passengers affected by flight cancelations traveling on/after 28th.Feb. 2026

  • Passengers are entitled for free of charge change without collecting difference in fare.
  • Passengers are entitled for free of charge reroute within the same IATA zone.
  • Passengers transiting via Amman are entitled for involuntary rerouting with other carriers upon availability (first coupon must be with RJ).
  • Passengers are entitled for a non-refundable voucher valid for 1 year.
  • In case of refund, ticket rules apply, unless contradicts with the POC country law.
  • Change is permitted for travel on/before 15th May.2026
  • Passengers holding tickets with any Iraq route can request to remove Iraq sectors from their tickets without collecting fees or additional governmental taxes, with no compensation to be offered for the unused sector.

RJ operations will proceed normally as long as Jordanian airspace remains open. However, passengers scheduled to travel between 28th Feb and 10th Mar 2026 who are not affected by a flight cancellation but choose not to travel will be eligible for the following options:

  • Passengers are entitled for free of charge change without collecting penalties, difference in fare to be collected if any
  • In case of refund ticket rules apply
  • Change is permitted for travel on/before 15th May.2026
  • Tour code must be inserted : JOU30220262124 
  • This circular applies to all ancillary services associated with the affected tickets.
  • BO applies from 12th Mar to 28th Mar, fare difference must be collected in both involuntary and voluntary cases, with waivers offered only where applicable.

Operations update – Qatari Airspace closure

Qatar Airways flight operations remain temporarily suspended due to the closure of Qatari airspace.

Qatar Airways will resume operations once the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority announces the safe reopening of Qatari airspace by the relevant authorities. A further update will be provided on 06 March by 09:00 Doha time (06:00 UTC).

Qatar Airways will start operating a limited number relief flights from 05 March to support passengers who are stranded due to the current situation across the region. The following services are planned:

• Flights from Muscat to: London Heathrow, Berlin, Copenhagen, Madrid, Rome, and Amsterdam
• Flight from Riyadh to Frankfurt

Passengers are kindly requested not to proceed to the airport unless they have received an official notification from Qatar Airways for these flights.

Qatar Airways will contact affected passengers directly with their assigned flight details, travel arrangements and next steps.

Please ensure that your clients contact information is up to date so we can reach them whenever necessary.

We are continuing to closely monitor the situation and will share further updates as soon as they become available.

Passenger Guidelines for Travel Agents:

NDC Bookings – Change, Refund & Cancellation
The process to manage NDC bookings impacted by schedule change or disruption, depends on the servicing requirement and NDC platform.

Refunds: 
– Please process via the Trade Portal Self-Service Form

Change:
– Amadeus (Sell Connect and/or Travel API), Travelport (Smartpoint) or Verteil: 
Please manage directly on your NDC platform where changes can be made for free (provided that it’s within the commercial policy)
– All other GDS / aggregators: Please contact the QR B2B Customer Contact Centre

EMIRATES – Limited operations due to airspace closures

With the limited re‑opening of airspace, Emirates is operating a reduced flight schedule until further notice.

These flights are open for booking, and we are accommodating customers with earlier bookings as a priority.

Customers transiting in Dubai will only be accepted for travel if their connecting flight is operating. Please do not go to the airport unless you hold a confirmed booking for these flights.

Emirates continues to monitor the situation, and we will develop our operational schedule accordingly.

The latest flight updates will be published on our website.

Customers are advised to check flight status, review the latest operational updates on emirates.com, and check their email for any notifications about changes or cancellations to their flights before travelling to the airport.

Customer advisory

Customers booked to travel between 28 February until and including 31 March have these options:

  • Rebook on an alternate flight. You can rebook on another flight to your intended destination for travel on or before 30 April. If you booked your flight with a travel agent, you must contact them. If you booked with us directly, contact us
  • Request for refund. You can request for a refund of your ticket by completing the refund form if you booked with us directly. If you booked your flights with a travel agent, please contact them.

Customers are requested to ensure their contact details are correct by visiting Manage Your Booking to receive updates.

All city check‑in points across Dubai are temporarily closed until further notice.

Qatar Airways – New Operations Update – Qatari Airspace closure

Dear Partner,

Qatar Airways flights operations remain temporarily suspended due to the closure of Qatari airspace.

Qatar Airways will resume operations once the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority announces the safe reopening of Qatari airspace. A further Update will be provided on March 6.

If your client has confirmed booking with a travel date between 28 February and 15 March 2026, they are eligible for : Complimentary date changes of up to 14 days from the original travel date, or a refund of the unused value of their ticket. 

Rebooking guidelines

Option 1: As per JWC

Option 2: Additional flexibility for rebooking on other airlines operated flight numbers (code-share marketing flight numbers are not permitted):

        Tier 1: Rebooking of all cancelled flights is allowed for a new travel date within 10 days from involuntary ticket reissue on the following carriers: A3/OA, AW, AH, KM, JU, BA, CX, 5Z, IB, MH, RJ, WB, SV, ZH, IE, UR, VY into the lowest available RBD within the same cabin for:

o   Same origin and destination

o   Alternate airport within the same country

o  Alternate airport within a 750-mile International Ticketed Point Mileage (TPM) radius

        Tier 2: Rebooking of all cancelled flights is allowed for a new travel date within 2 days from involuntary ticket reissue on all other carriers where QR has interline agreement (Amadeus entry: TGAD – QR/YY) and that are not specified in Tier 1 into the lowest available RBD within the same cabin for: 

o   Same origin and destination

o   Alternate airport within the same country

Option 3: Rebook unused sectors for a new travel date within ticket validity, same origin, destination. Must apply RBD, routing, flight numbers, max. stay, seasonality and blackouts according to fare rules.
