VCC’S not permitted – Immediate effect

Important Information – Use of VCC forbidden

Based on multiple warnings from various airlines and the anticipated high number of ADMs that we may receive, we have decided to make an immediate change with immediate effects.

We will no longer provide a list of airlines that might potentially accept VCC (Virtual Credit Cards).

However, moving forward, the use of VCC for ticket issuance on our IATA numbers both PT and ES is not permitted.

Any use of VCC will be solely partner own responsibility.

If we receive any further advice or recommendations from an airline or if an ADM is issued, we will promptly forward the debit to partners.

IATA RESO 890
IATA Resolution 890 paragraph 3.4 defines that use of other than customer’s credit card is prohibited unless specifically authorized by airline.

Use of agent’s own credit card is not allowed.

According to the booking and ticketing policy of most airlines, they only accept customer cards for collecting payment for passenger air transportation and ancillary services, using the card acceptance merchant agreement of the member/airline. It is not allowed to use a credit card, whether it is a consumer, corporate, wholesale card, issued in the name of the agent, agent’s personnel, or any third party, other than the customer or their employer, to issue tickets using an airline’s merchant agreement without obtaining explicit consent from the airline beforehand.

However, IATA Transparency In Payments (TIP) enables both airlines and agents to benefit from transparency and control in payment methods and allows for new forms of payment remittance. These payment methods, known as Alternative Transfer Methods (ATM), include credit cards issued in the name of the travel agent. Payment method providers can register their payment products with IATA, and these enrolled products are then published in BSP link. Additionally, travel agents can register their own credit cards into BSP link to apply for consent from the airline. By default, all enrolled payment products and travel agent cards do not have consent. It’s important to note that all credit cards, including ATMs, are subject to the airline’s standard credit card surcharging policy.

If the usage of a prohibited credit card issued in the name of the agent and used in conjunction with an air transportation sale is detected, the airline reserves the right to issue an ADM (Agency Debit Memo).

Unauthorized use of the agent’s card/ATM is subject to a variable fee that may amount up to the total value of the documents, plus an administration fee or its equivalent in the local currency, per ADM.

If consent is granted for using an ATM/agent’s own card as requested by the agent, the airline will provide a written confirmation specifying the period of consent.

We kindly request this information to be implemented immediately.
